The Carrilet Route is a greenway linking the towns of Girona and Olot across 57 kilometres of very level terrain of compacted gravel presenting scarcely any difficulties, making it suitable for both cyclists and walkers. The route passes through the districts of Gironès, La Selva and La Garrotxa, following the former Carrilet narrow gauge railway line between Olot and Girona. Along the way it takes in sites of considerable value in terms of landscape, ecology and culture, including the La Garrotxa Volcanic District, the Ter Valley, the flatlands of Salt and other features.
The Carrilet Route passes through La Selva for approximately 20 kilometres, following a section of the course of the Rivers Brugent and Ter. Along the way it passes by the former Carrilet railway stations in the main towns and population centres: Amer, El Pasteral, La Cellera de Ter, Anglès and Bonmatí.
