The Mediterranean Track is a Long Distance (583 km) trail running the length of the Catalan coastline, and featuring tiny coves, beaches and seascapes. The trail begins in Portbou, right on the Costa Brava, before ending at Ulldecona, having crossed over the Ebro Delta. Along the way it passes through sites of huge ecological value, such as the Nature Parks of Cap de Creus, the Empordà Wetlands and the Ebro Delta itself, along with others.
The Mediterranean Track passes through La Selva for some 30 kilometres of its route, from the Cadiretes massif as far as the River Tordera. All along the way the landscape alternates between coastal woodlands, with white pine the key feature, and a number of small coves, beaches, etc. Certain sections pass through less attractive built-up areas as a result of the lack of pathways closer to the coastline. This is nonetheless made up for by the opportunity to walk along the coastal paths previously used to look out for attacks from the sea or for smugglers, running through a distinctive clifftop setting.
