The Terranegra Trackis a route exploring the Cadiretes Massif, and its more wooded side. There are 25 kilometres to cover across the plateau of La Selva down to the coast, passing through the Terra Negra col whichever direction you choose. If you set out from Caldes de Malavella you could take in the town’s rich cultural heritage, along with its tradition of thermal spa waters, springs and the ancient Roman baths. Before heading up to the col, you could also explore the shrine of Sant Maurici, the remains of Malavella Castle or the church of Santa Ceclina.
The route back down from the col passes through the wooded Cadiretes Massif, a protected natural area boasting an outstanding landscape. The final section of the itinerary then follows the Tossa river banks, taking in the Sant Benet dam, the Can Garriga mill and the Sa Riera Park wetlands. Once you reach the park you are in Tossa de Mar, where you can visit the walled old town, the Mediterranean Lighthouse Visitor Centre, or climb up the slopes of the Puig de Cadiretes, among other options.
