Set on the ridge separating the valleys of Osor and Susqueda, the ancient Priory of Mare de Déu del Coll was founded in the 12th century by the Monastery of Santa Maria d’Amer, on which it depended. The setting is wonderful, offering views of the two valleys and surrounding mountains, along with some exceptional historical heritage.

The church is the same construction that was built in the 12th century. The quality of the construction is clear to see in its ashlar masonry and the solid walls of the apse and nave. The large bell gable with three arches rises above the west façade, facing what remains of the buildings which once housed the monks, and which have been altered more significantly.

In the 17th century it sheltered the bandit Serrallonga and in the 19th century became the parish church, an important factor in ensuring its preservation. The magnificent Romanesque altar frontal depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary is a copy, the original being housed in the Episcopal Museum of Vic.
